Alaska.Labs is an owner-managed consulting and engineering firm from Dresden. We work where infrastructure has to be large, regulated and long-lived: public sector, industry, healthcare. Advising, building and operating is done by the same team — and what we recommend, we run ourselves.

SVN NG — Saxony's next-generation government network
We support the tender for the successor to the Saxon government network and lead the design of the Free State of Saxony's new private cloud platform — the foundation for cross-departmental base services and e-government. Plus the central authentication infrastructure, the data centre and network design, and the migration of the existing services.

Wise-Net — wireless sensor network for environmental monitoring
Development of an intelligent, wireless sensor network for monitoring soil density and water content. Sensor nodes ("Smart Grain") measure using electromagnetic waves in the soil and transmit the data via a field gateway to a cloud platform. We are responsible for gateway integration, data protocol, cloud architecture and analysis. Application areas: flood protection, geo-engineering, smart farming.

Three engagements, one pattern: consulting plus delivery on private and public cloud, often mixed. Analysis of the existing container environments, technical cloud concepts, build-out of the platforms and the introduction of GitOps — releases fully automated, from cycles of weeks down to hours. We advise on the architecture and then help operate it.
